QualificationsApplicant must be a Forest Grove High School graduating senior, outstanding in history, with plans to attend community college or university for a degree in history, historic preservation, social studies, government, anthropology, archaeology, teaching history or social studies, or closely-related field. | Application Process
A committee will review all applications and decide on the recipient of this year’s scholarship. The recipient should be notified by the first week in April and announced at Spotlight for Success. |
2021 Recipient Kaylyn BrennanKaylyn has taken a full slate of advanced history courses at FGHS, as well as participating in Renaissance Leadership, athletics, and as president of the National Honor Society. Personal experience with adversity has shaped her desire to give back to the local community. “…Kaylyn not only actively participates, but enjoys these character and community building activities. … Her passion, perseverance and motivation make her an outstanding candidate.” ~ Laura Lewis, Social Studies Department Chair FHFG is pleased to award Kaylyn with a $1000 scholarship. | 2021 HonoreesFHFG was pleased to award $500 to the following honorees: Elizabeth (Lizzie) Lohrer. Lizzie’s student projects focused on notable women in history, as well as the history of student journalism at FGHS. David Glover. David’s goal is to become a field archaeologist. He also has done well at advanced history courses, as well as participating in athletics, martial arts, and working part-time. |
2020 Recipient Natalie KlausNatalie plans to major in Political Science at University of Oregon, with a life goal of serving in the legislature. She has demonstrated leadership through her participation with student body government, National Honor Society, and Dance Team; her excellence in history, by taking advanced social studies/history classes all four years of high school with perfect grades.
