Friends of Historic Forest Grove invites you to open houses at two historic properties:

The Historic Hinman House is an exquisite Italianate Victorian mansion wonderfully preserved and updated. It was built in the mid-1870s for Alanson Hinman, an Oregon pioneer and local merchant. The house became a Pacific University fraternity house in the 1950s, but was converted back to a private residence in 1969. It has been restored beautifully.

The Sam Hughes House was built in 1866 by pioneer Sam Hughes. Hughes was born in 1835 in Missouri and emigrated to California in 1852. In 1857 he moved to Portland, and then on to Forest Grove where he opened a blacksmith shop south of this site. This house sits on land which Hughes originally bought as a farm from the donation land claims of Harvey Clark, William Stokes and Benjamin Catching. It has been recently updated and restored.

Refreshments and entertainment will be offered.

You won't want to miss out on seeing these amazing homes!
