Join OPB producer Jessie Sears (Karuk) for the Forest Grove stop of our “First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath” film tour. The film follows a group of 28 Indigenous kayakers who paddled the entire 300-mile Klamath River to become the first to descend the free-flowing river after the removal of four dams.

DETAILS:

  • Program at 7:15 p.m.
  • Doors and community activities starting at 6 p.m. OPB will be joined in the lobby by The Confederated Tribes and Pacific's Indigenous Student Alliance
  • The screening will be followed by a panel conversation featuring the producer and guests from the film. Total program time is approximately 75 minutes.

LOBBY ARTWORK: As part of our film engagements for “First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath,” we are working with Native youth organizations to create a memento, designed to tell YOUR story, and continue to inspire the next generation, reminding all of us that you are also writing your own story.

Grab a marker and share your story – How will you leave your mark for the future? This piece of art will be gifted to the Indigenous Student Alliance at Pacific University for them to continue adding to and showcase as a reminder of the tenacity and resilience of youth.

FILM T-SHIRTS: Limited availability film t-shirts will be available for purchase at this event with artwork by Toma Villa. Your purchase directly supports OPB's storytelling and journalism.
